CMRT Practice Test 2026 – Complete Exam Prep

The recommended practice for installing a motor to aid in alignment emphasizes the use of flexible conduit to facilitate movement. This approach allows for some degree of adjustment and realignment during installation, which is essential in ensuring that the motor's alignment with the driven equipment is accurate. When a flexible conduit is used, it can absorb vibrations and accommodate minor misalignments, thus helping to prevent undue stress on the motor and associated components.

In a rigid conduit scenario, the lack of flexibility may restrict movement and complicate the alignment process, making it difficult to achieve optimal positioning. Installing without conduit could simplify the installation, but it risks exposing the wires to potential damage and environmental factors, which may lead to reliability issues. Fixing the motor with no play may seem beneficial for stability, but it does not allow for adjustments that are often necessary due to variations in the mounting surfaces or slight misalignments that can occur during installation. Therefore, using flexible conduit is the most practical choice to ensure proper alignment and to maintain the integrity of the motor installation over time.
